Kainégo (aka Gnoll)
Well I've just been a busy bee since HMK came out. I'm converting "another system's" adventure to HMK to throw against players of said "another system". It'll be a great comparison (I hope!).
With that said, I'm now taking a crack at making a new monster. Have a gander! Thoughts? Comments? Criticisms?
NOTE: This is a general TYPE sheet. Not all iterations of this beastie will have all of these skills or run around with all of these weapons. The weapons will be primitive versions, so the damages and WQ's don't match exactly. Haven't figured that out yet (see other thread). So I'm mainly interested in: Stats, Listed Skills, Combat prowess. I envision them to be on-par with, or perhaps a little bit tougher than Gargu-Hyeka (Brown or Common Orcs).
NOTE 2: For a single-frame shot of the stats, for the monster block insert, see GnollTabular.png

Very cool—I want to spend
Very cool—I want to spend more time today looking it over!
Btw, are we headed to the Caves of Chaos?... :)...I'm in.

I've nearly completed the story lines. Now I just need maps. I think Harniacs will pan it, bc there's a LOT of: "Well, this might not really happen, but eff it. It's happenin'." But that's not the target audience (although I hope they enjoy it). It's expected that the target audience will probably not even recognize it until it's over. It's almost an exact port.
SPOILERS -- assume deep familiarity with Keep on the Borderlands:
-- Couple of new Ivashu who have been living here (Minotaur type and Owlbear type; not total carbon copies, but close enough to trigger)
-- Fleeing Gargu-hyeka and Gargu-khanu from Korego, end up getting harried by Tulwyn, eventually find refuge here. Begin infighting and segregate into caves, licking their wounds, but plotting what to do next
-- Kainego arrive to winter here. Settle in their own cave (establishing themselves after conflicts with Gargun)
-- And then there's the hidden shrine, found by a cultist of the Midnight Dancer from Moleryn. This will involve a kidnapping that sets off a timed event to prevent a most-horrible human sacrifice.
The intended general flow is:

I've always wanted to run a Village of Hommlet HM conversion—so I'm your target audience for your Chaos, so to speak.
This sounds like loads of fun
This sounds like loads of fun! I almost ran a RQ6/Mythras version of Temple of Elemental Evil back in the day, but - alas - it never came to be.
I would be interested in seeing how you did giant spiders in HMK. You'd need to do new hit location tables (no arachnids in HMK, IIRC) with custom shock values and all. Please share it once you're done and, by all means, keep us informed of how your campaign goes. Best of luck with it!
