Let's make some characters!

Some of you have undoubtedly already created one or more characters with the new HârnMaster: Kèthîra rules system. The PDF and book do include a character sheet, after all. We are aware, however, that a stand-alone character sheet PDF is preferable and that a lot of role-players like to create their characters on their computers and tablets.

This is why we have just added a new free download for you: the HMK Document Package. It's a folder containing not just various kinds of handy character sheets, including a fillable and an auto-calculating version, but also a few other documents helpful to both players and GMs during play or for managing the campaign. It can be found in the Free Stuff→Aids & Tools section.

As usual, if you have questions, comments, or feedback about these documents, let us know via our Forums or Discord.

Happy character-creating and role-playing!

Update on typing errors and the HMK Quickstart

The initial PDF release of HârnMaster: Kèthîra (HMK) contained a number of spelling and punctuation errors, and we're in the process of correcting them all. We have already corrected the majority, and a new version of the PDF document has been uploaded. From this point onward, this new version will be automatically available to all new purchasers of any of the three HMK formats. The completely corrected version will be available in about 2 weeks, but as of now, HMK version 1.01 is available, containing substantial fixes.

Everyone who has already purchased HMK (any format) can receive the new file by redownloading it from their list of downloadable files (Account→Files). The file simply replaces the previous file download, so there won't be a seperate entry for it in your list of files. If you redownload the file called hmkcore.pdf, you will receive the new version. We recommend either deleting the previous version on your drive(s) or renaming it (if you want to keep it) so as to avoid confusing it with the updated file.

The printed books (Standard and Collector's Edition) will be produced from the fully corrected version.

Regarding the HMK Quickstart mentioned earlier, this will be released soon, but a little later than initially expected. We are currently planning for a release in October. The Quickstart will consist of an introductory adventure called The Silver Way (around 30 pages), 3-4 pregenerated characters, as well as some additional setting material, allowing GMs to continue play after the adventure if they wish. The rules will be explained as they appear in the adventure, allowing the whole group to basically dive right into the game and learn the rules along the way. This will make the Quickstart especially interesting for newcomers to Hârn (or to role-playing in general), but the adventure will also make for an interesting campaign opener for experienced gamers.

Out now: HârnMaster: Roleplaying in the World of Kèthîra

The long wait is over, the new edition of HârnMaster is finally here! Combining the sophisticated and timeless core elements of N. Robin Crossby's original HârnMaster and HârnMaster Gold with a widened scope, new ideas, and refinements, this latest version is the perfect rules system for both Hârn veterans and newcomers to explore with it the entirety of Kèthîra, the World of Hârn (including the island of Hârn itself).

HârnMaster: Roleplaying in the World of Kethira (HMK) comes in three formats: 1) as a purely digital PDF version (fully bookmarked and suitable for home printing), 2) as the printed Standard Edition, and 3) as the printed Collector's Edition. The two printed hardback formats have different covers (the Collector's Edition has an elegant leatherette cover featuring the Pvaric Wheel), but their interior is 100 % the same. Both printed formats also include the PDF version as a bonus.

The PDF version is available immediately after purchase, which is true for both the stand-alone PDF and the bonus PDF that comes with the printed versions. The physical books (Standard and Collector's Edition) will go into production in September, with an estimated arrival at the purchasers' doors in November (we will keep you updated on this approximation throughout the process).

We hope HMK will bring you and your friends countless hours of fun throughout many exciting campaigns and adventures set on Kèthîra -- or another game world of your choice. This marks the start of a new era for Hârn. Happy roleplaying!

Oh, one more thing... To celebrate the release of HMK, we're having a store-wide sale until September 30. All products except for HMK are discounted by 20 %. The Venârivè and Kèthîra modules receive a special discount. If you don't own them yet, this is the perfect time to get them! Head on over to the store.

Mark your calendars: HMK has a release date!

We can at last give you the definitive release date for the brand-new edition of HârnMaster: Wednesday, August 28 (Pacific Time/UTC-7).

As communicated earlier, the PDF version of the book will be available immediately, either as a stand-alone purchase or as a free download included with a purchase of a Standard or Collector's Edition book. The physical books will go into production soon after the above release date and will likely ship to you in November, after the 8-to-12-week printing process (we'll keep you posted on the progress).

In celebration of HMK's release, and as a thanks to all our great KP customers, we're also pleased to announce a store-wide sale on all our other products, starting next Wednesday and running through the end of September. We will fill you in on the details over the next week, but now's the time to start thinking about a new campaign set in your favorite part of Kèthîra!

HMK release time frame and price

Based on the few finalizing steps still ahead of us, we are working towards a mid-August release of HârnMaster: Kèthîra. We will announce the exact day soon, but, today, would like to share with you the prices of HMK's various formats.

The PDF-only version of the 436-page book will be immediately available for download for $30; the printed Standard Edition will be $60 (plus free PDF); and the printed Collector's Edition will be $80 (plus free PDF). The free HMK PDF accompanying either printed version will also be available for immediate download on the August release date. The physical books will then go into print soon thereafter and will ship several months later. We'll keep you updated throughout the coming weeks on the ultimate shipping date of the hardbacks to purchasers.

Stay tuned for news regarding the worldwide hardback shipping prices, and for the details of a special store-wide sale that kicks off on the August release date of HMK.
